1 . Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP)

The Vehicle Entry Permit is a permit that allows Singapore registered vehicles to enter Malaysia, similar to the one in Singapore. Before the Pandemic, VEP registered vehicles were required to install a VEP-RFID tag but due to technical problems and border closures, RFID tag installation is temporarily not required at the moment however it is advised to arrange and install as soon as possible so it would not affect your journeys when the VEP-RFID is mandated in the near future. Register for VEP here.

2 . Touch’nGo

Touch’nGo (T&G) is a card that is able to store prepaid value and is necessary for entry into Malaysia via Woodlands Checkpoint or Tuas Secondlink Checkpoint. An entry charge of RM20 (approx. SGD 6.30) will be deducted from the T&G card upon reaching the Malaysia customs. In Malaysia, this card is a necessity as it can be used for a variety of purposes. While it is primarily used for paying tolls and expressway fees, most shopping mall car parks accept T&G as a payment solution nowadays. Moreover, it is also accepted as a wireless payment method at some food and retail establishments.

Here’s where you can get Touch ‘n Go cards in Singapore:

There is also a new collaboration between EZ-Link and Touch ‘n Go that is now available for more convenient cross border motoring and can be used by motorists in Singapore & Malaysia.

3 . MySejahtera Application

MySejahtera is a contact tracing application that is implemented in Malaysia due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As of 1st August 2022, Entry into Malaysia regardless of Covid-19 Vaccination status is permitted, however it is advised to download and register the app as some premises such as shopping malls may request to verify your vaccination status via the MySejahtera app before granting you entry into the premises.
